STORY: The Mega Millions drawing takes place twice a week, on Tuesday and Friday nights. The jackpot has been growing since April 15th when the last jackpot of $20 million was won.
In the history of the Mega Millions, two jackpots totalling over $1 billion have been won, with the last one in January of 2021.
No Mega Millions jackpot has ever been won in the District of Columbia, but that didn't stop these area residents from trying their luck and dreaming about what they would do with that much money.
The next drawing will take place on Friday (July 29), at 11p.m. local time.
Winners can choose to take a lump sum payment or receive 30 annual payments.
All prizes are taxable - but that isn't stopping anyone from buying a ticket and trying their luck.
If no one wins on Friday, the jackpot will continue to grow.
