Czech zoo gets its first wombat

After several years of waiting, the zoo was finally able to get its first wombat. "For us, this is a very important moment," said deputy director Jaroslav Simek.

Cooper has been at the Prague Zoo for several weeks. After a mandatory quarantine period, he is now able to explore his new home.

The zoo is now trying to obtain a female partner for him so that he will not be lonely. Simek said it was not certain when a new partner for Cooper would arrive, but the zoo hopes she will come from a breeding station in Australia's state of Tasmania.
