Cyclist Crashes at Level Crossing as Irish Rail Highlights Incidents on Awareness Day

Ireland’s national railway service posted footage on June 9 of a cyclist crashing into barriers, among other incidents, in a warning message to road users on International Level Crossing Awareness Day.

Irish Rail shared the video of the cyclist running into lowering barriers ahead of an approaching train in the Sandymount suburb of Dublin on May 25.

They also shared footage of barriers landing on a car that had stopped at the crossing in Ireland’s capital on May 13, as well as tractor smashing through barriers while pulling hay in Ballymurray.

Irish Rail said, “Trying to save some journey time could cost you paying for damage or paying with injury. Always obey level crossing and warning signs.” Credit: Irish Rail via Storyful
