Amsterdam locals flocked to the Museumplein park on March 31, despite strict government measures on outdoor gatherings.
Following an increase in daily case numbers that peaked at more than 8,000 cases on March 28, the Dutch government said lockdown restrictions would be extended. On March 23, it confirmed that bars and restaurants should stay closed. A night-time curfew and a ban of gatherings of more than two adults would also remain in place until April 20.
