To find the most popular movie in each state we took data (yes, numbers!) from Box Office Mojo’s lifetime and current movie grossing lists, along with IMDB rankings, Rotten Tomatoes, and in a few cases, we had to make some tough judgement calls. We did focus on films that the bulk of the action takes place within the state and not something like an Avengers movie, where they start in a quaint small town and then head to space.
