There's no place like home?
When you think about Kansas, what comes to mind? Sweeping cornfields and a yellow brick road perhaps? Blockbuster movies can instantly create a lasting image of what a state may look like, even in the cases where it didn’t film on location, or the quaint and charming town was totally fictional. It's called movie magic.
To find the most popular movie in each state we took data (yes, numbers!) from Box Office Mojo’s lifetime and current movie grossing lists, along with IMDB rankings, Rotten Tomatoes, and in a few cases, we had to make some tough judgement calls. We did focus on films that the bulk of the action takes place within the state and not something like an Avengers movie, where they start in a quaint small town and then head to space. So sit back and travel the country from the comfort of your couch.
