Croatian sculptor draws temporary artworks on sand

These sand artworks only last while the tide is out

Location: Delta of the Neretva River, Croatia

Croatian sculptor Nikola Faler draws patterns in the sands

every year at the Zen Opuzen art festival

(SOUNDBITE) (Croatian) SCULPTOR, NIKOLA FALER, SAYING: "It is my sixth year as a guest at the Zen Opuzen Festival. I improve every year, and in Osijek, where I come from I also draw on the sand, I hunt there all year round when the water level drops, and it is wonderful that you can draw every morning. When I come to the festival it's four or five days, so that's four or five drawings that I manage to make."

"The work disappears, the sea erases it. The next day, a new surface is available to work on so that creativity never ends."
