Crimson Fires and Heavy Smoke Blanket Sky as Silverado Fire Grows

The Silverado Fire grew to 12,600 acres and was five percent contained on October 27, officials said, amid evacuation orders across Orange County, California.

Alicia Butterfield filmed a video that shows herself driving in Orchard Hills, Irvine, on October 26, when the fires are blazing near the road. At one point, she has to make a U-turn to drive away from the flames that are burning in the distance, the video shows.

“This is the fire that broke out yesterday morning. Me and my son are safe,” Butterfield wrote in the caption on her YouTube post that featured the video. Credit: Alicia Butterfield via Storyful
