“Criminal Minds: Evolution” trailer sees BAU reluctantly teaming up with Elias Voit
There's a new homicidal unsub on the loose.
It seems Elias Voit is the least of BAU's problems in the latest trailer for Criminal Minds: Evolution.
A new killer is on the loose in a tense first look at the upcoming season 2 of the revival, which returns to Paramount+ on June 6. And to the dismay of our favorite profilers — played by returning original stars Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, Adam Rodriguez, and Paget Brewster — season 1's big bad Matt Sarac— uh, Elias Voit (Zach Gilford, upped to series regular), who built a network of serial killers amid the COVID-19 pandemic, just might be the key to cracking the case.
"We will not rely on help from a serial killer," Brewster's Emily Prentiss says in the trailer released Thursday.

Could this new killer be linked to the mystery of Gold Star? We'll find out soon enough.
"The plan is to have Voit back next season almost as our Hannibal Lecter," showrunner Erica Messer told Entertainment Weekly last year. "Gold Star obviously has a power behind it because it was something that got Bailey's attention and then ultimately got Bailey killed. Voit is going to use it to negotiate his way to a lesser sentence. He is involved in a way that we weren't expecting when we first created Voit."
Ryan-James Hatanaka, who played former military intelligence officer Tyler Green, will also return, having been upped to series regular alongside Gilford.
Guest stars this season include Clark Gregg, Paul F. Tompkins, Tuc Watkins, Brian White, and Felicity Huffman, the latter of whom will play Dr. Jill Gideon, a psychiatrist and ex-wife of Mandy Patinkin's late Jason Gideon who comes in to help the team crack the case.
The new season of Criminal Minds: Evolution premieres June 6 on Paramount+ with two episodes, followed by new drops every Thursday. Watch the trailer above.
