Officials surveyed damage in the Des Allemands area of Louisiana on Monday morning, August 30, one day after a Category 4 hurricane made landfall on the state’s southern coast.
Footage from the state fire marshal’s office shows downed poles and damaged structures on Highway 90 east in the Des Allemands area, a Facebook post said.
According to the fire marshal, a recon team spent “upwards of two hours” cutting and removing trees to clear travel routes for US Army Reserve teams.
Louisiana State Urban Search and Rescue Task Force and other agencies were “on the way,” Monday morning, the fire marshal’s office said.
