Crews Remove Wreckage After Train Derailment Caused by Kentucky Mudslide

The Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet released new footage on February 19 showing crews removing the last locomotive from the wreckage of the CSX train derailment in Pike County.

The derailment just outside Elkhorn City was caused by a massive mudslide on February 13, resulting in a large fire and the hospitalization of two CSX employees, who were expected to make a full recovery.

Officials with the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet said crews worked to secure the rail cars and remove ethanol from the tankers before removing the cars and locomotives from the site. Credit: Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet via Storyful
