KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 15 — Health director-general Datuk Seri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah announced 26 new Covid-19 cases for Malaysia today, but no deaths.

He said six patients are still under intensive care, one of whom is intubated.

He added that three patients were discharged today.

Malaysia currently has 219 active Covid-19 cases.

Dr Noor Hisham said three of today’s new cases involved two Malaysians and one foreigner who contracted the coronavirus while abroad.

They were returnees from Austria, the US and Vietnam.

Three more infections were domestic transmissions involving non-citizens.

Two of them are undocumented migrants who are currently under detention in Negri Sembilan, and one in Kuala Lumpur who was detected from a workplace Covid-19 screening.
