IPOH, March 19 (Bernama) -- The Perak state government has approved a special allocation of RM720,000 to provide food boxes to reduce the burden of target groups following the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) due to COVID-19.
Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said the aid was the state government’s additional initiative to help the needy especially those who could not work or earn income during the 14-day MCO period.
"The food boxes aid which contains essentials goods will be distributed through the district offices in the near future and they will focus on the needy, the daily paid or self employed individuals, who are unable to work due to the Movement Control Order," he said in a statement today.
He noted that no application process was needed as the district offices would distribute it directly to eligible recipients.
However, he said recipients of the Kad Perak Prihatin programme were not included in the special assistance as they were still receiving RM80 per month for basic necessities.
