SINGAPORE — In light of elevated social distancing measures from 7 April to 4 May announced on Friday (3 April), Certificate of Entitlement (COE) bidding exercises in the month of April will be suspended.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) said this is in line with the closure of motor vehicle dealerships and showrooms during this period. In a press statement on Sunday (5 April), the LTA said it will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates on subsequent bidding exercises. Dealers may use their existing stock of Temporary COEs (TCOEs) to register new vehicles, it said.

On Saturday, the LTA had announced that ERP charges at all gantries will be suspended from Monday midnight onwards.

LTA had announced earlier on Tuesday that it will reduce the ERP rates at most of the gantries on Monday, with road traffic volume declining due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, after the Singapore government announced on Friday enhanced social distancing measures from 7 April to 4 May, such as full home-based learning and the closure of most workplaces, LTA decided to cease ERP charges as it expects an immediate and significant reduction in traffic volume.

LTA had said it will resume the charging of ERP when the elevated set of safe distancing measures are lifted. In the meantime, it strongly urged all Singaporeans to adhere to all safe distancing measures.
