Covid-19: 16 new clusters today, nine workplace clusters

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 21 — A total of 16 new Covid-19 clusters were reported by the Health Ministry today, nine of which were categorised as workplace clusters.

One cluster involved an elder home, while another involved a location identified only as a “care centre”. Another cluster involved religious activities.

There were two clusters in Kuala Lumpur, two in Selangor, three in Johor, two in Sabah, three in Perak, one in Penang, two in Kedah and one in Terengganu.

Among the new clusters that recorded the highest numbers of infections to date are the Jalan Sempadan cluster (35 cases) in Johor, the Taman Sejahtera cluster (35 cases) in Perak and the Mandin Jaya cluster (29 cases) in Penang.

The ministry also reported that there are 327 active clusters currently, 84 of which had new cases recorded today.

At the same time, seven clusters have ended.

In total, 701 clusters of Covid-19 have been detected in the country since the start of the pandemic here.
