Costumed Moscow runners race for Orthodox Christmas
The over 3 mile track along the embankments ended at the Luzhniki Sports Arena, which hosted the final game of Soccer World Cup 2018.
To maintain coronavirus restrictions, participants had to prepare a medical certificate and a valid QR code in advance.
Christian Orthodox do not celebrate Christmas eve on December 24th but on January 6th.
This is because the Orthodox follow the Julian calendar, while Roman Catholics follow the Gregorian calendar.
