Costco employees are furious after a video of a man leaving the warehouse with free beef fat was posted on TikTok. According to the TikToker, Costco usually has excess beef fat since they trim their own meat. And they will give it to you for free if you call ahead and let them know how much you'd like. If that sounds too good to be true, that's probably because it is.

Costco workers immediately lashed out in the comments on Reddit, letting shoppers know that this information is completely false. They said the only thing free about this hack is a free ticket to the unemployment line for any Costco butcher who dares to give away free beef fat.

"Costco meat department employee here. This is completely false!!! If somebody at his Costco is doing this, they’re gonna lose their job. We sell the fat to rendering companies," read one comment with nearly 500 likes.

One person wondered why the man in the TikTok video would risk exposing the meaty secret if he really did receive 10 pounds of beef fat for free.

"Getting a rare something for free, then advertising it online, and ruining your honeypot is about the most illogical thing I can think of doing. Unless you’re trying to get paid to be an influencer…," they wrote.

Another user slammed influencer culture and the desire to get online views, even if it means spreading false information.

"Man I’m so tired of how low the bar is for 'influencers' these days. If this was real, you keep the secret to yourself instead of ruining it so you can get 93 likes on YouTube," read one comment.
