KUALA LUMPUR, March 24 — Cosmetics tycoon Datuk Seri Vida has yet again ruffled local social media users. This time over an oversized telekung (prayer garment).

The 52-year-old shared a short clip of her flaunting her oversized telekung at a local mosque’s courtyard while also wishing fellow Muslims a blessed Ramadan via her Instagram.

“Alhamdulillah, the first Tarawih prayers tonight. Happy Ramadan from me and happy fasting to all muslims,” she captioned the post.

She also shared a few snippets of her donning the oversized telekung in another post along with the caption ‘name this Telekung’, which prompted local social media users into action.

“The walking canopy,” commented user mohd_khairul.

“Telekung to cover our past sins,” user fendi_204 commented.

“The hellproof telekung,” commented user azrulafiq94.

“Thank you datuk for helping the Mosque cleaning committees,” commented user gudilgudilgudil.

Although both of the posts garnered thousands of likes, local social media users were also seen criticising the entrepreneur in the comments section.

Some social media users were seen criticising the large telekung which they deemed as a waste of cloth while some were seen criticising Vida for using the telekung and the holy month of Ramadan for content purposes.

“This is not suitable for a Telekung, it looks like a waste (of materials),” commented user yanie_rosnawi.

“When is she going to repent? Using religion for her own gains,” commented user ikramsyahidan.

Meanwhile other social media users also pointed out that the telekung is not suitable to be used in prayer as it is too big, especially during congregational prayer.

Vida’s short clip has been viewed over 600,000 times since it was shared yesterday.
