Cree Hardrict made his BET Awards debut!

Cory Hardrict brought his 13-year-old son as his plus one to the 2024 BET Awards, where the father-son duo spoke to PEOPLE about their exciting goals for the future. Cory shares Cree and his daughter Cairo, 6, with his ex-wife Tia Mowry, who was also at the awards show.

"I'm feeling blessed and highly favored. I got my son with me, so I'm excited for him to experience this, the culture," the proud dad tells PEOPLE outside the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, June 30.

Cree adds that this was not only his first BET Awards appearance, but the "biggest event ever in my life."

Cree says his dad has "been having me do a lot of extra stuff" this summer, especially basketball.

"Cause now I'm preparing to go where I want to go. So now I'm really taking it serious," the 13-year-old tells PEOPLE.

The determined son went on to share that he has "NBA dreams," adding, "I really feel it. Hard work always beats talent."

"Always got God on my side," Cree adds.

"There you go," Hardrict proudly tells his son.

Cree went on to share that having two largely successful actors as parents "feels good."

"It feels really good that I have advice from my parents and all that." He adds that his parents are in full support of his goals, sharing, "they're always right next to me for all the things that I love. So I really appreciate that."

Hardrict is currently gearing up for the release of his new film Divorce in the Black, directed by Tyler Perry and starring alongside his "sister" Meagan Good, out July 11.

"The movie's amazing. [The] Biggest movie of the year for Amazon," he tells PEOPLE. "I'm claiming it."
