Coronavirus Evacuees' Buses Attacked by Protesters in Ukraine

Buses carrying evacuees from China’s coronavirus-stricken city of Wuhan were attacked on their way to quarantine in Novi Sanzhary in Ukraine on February 20.

According to RFE, 24 people were arrested after protesters clashed with police and set fires on the road as the evacuees were being transported by bus to a quarantine facility in the area.

The convoy was carrying 45 Ukrainians and 27 people from other countries. Medical personnel also were traveling in the vehicles.

Ukraine’s security service said it was investigating a fake email that stated some of the evacuees had contracted the virus. Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk said in a Facebook post that none of the evacuees, or crew members aboard their flight, had shown any symptoms so far. Credit: Radio Free Europe via Storyful
