From Digital Spy

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's Peter Barlow begs Carla Connor for another chance to make their relationship work next week.

Peter (Chris Gascoyne) swoops in at the last minute when Carla looks set to move on from their rocky relationship by heading off with another man.

In heartbreaking scenes next week, Peter accepts that he's dying and reveals to Carla (Alison King) that he has already written a farewell letter to his son Simon.

Carla is desperate to give Peter a wake-up call over his self-destructive attitude. She drags Simon over to Number 1 and reads out the emotional letter to him against Peter's wishes.

Simon heads out in shock afterwards, while Carla urges Peter to save himself for the sake of his son and the rest of his family before it's too late.

Carla points out that Peter still has a chance to stop drinking, have his transplant and prove to Simon how much he loves him. Peter refuses to listen and heads out to drink again.

That evening, Peter's father Ken (Bill Roache) tracks him down to a hotel bar, where he's already in a drunken state.

Ken tries to take the alcohol from Peter for his own good, but Peter lashes out to keep hold of it.

The incident leaves Peter deeply ashamed of his actions and he soon breaks down, telling Ken that he wants to give up the booze but doesn't know how.

Later in the week, Peter is rushed back into hospital after suffering a seizure. He finally decides that he wants to stop drinking again, but he's advised to reduce his intake gradually to avoid sudden death.

Meanwhile, Carla is surprised when she discovers that her latest client at the factory is Lucas – a man she met when she was living in Devon.

After yet another rejection from Peter, who still wants nothing to do with her, Carla heads off to lunch with Lucas instead.

When Carla is just about to leave for the weekend, Peter appears and begs her to stay. Will Carla agree to give Peter another chance?
