Coronation Street's Debbie Webster seems ready to cut ties with Ray Crosby tonight (January 18) as his recent behaviour starts to backfire.

Debbie (Sue Devaney) is appalled when she realises that the development plans are in jeopardy due to Ray's reckless approach to the finances. However, it soon becomes clear that this isn't the only problem they have to worry about.

In Monday's double bill, Ray (Mark Frost) is violently threatened by gangster Mick Chaney over an unpaid debt.

The villain also receives a new £20,000 blackmail demand from his corrupt council contact Susan, who threatens big trouble for him if he doesn't cooperate.

With two large sums of money to pay out, Ray has to use the funds that he'd previously earmarked to purchase the Nazir and Metcalfe houses.

Debbie is furious when she finds out that the house sales won't be able to go through until a later date, putting the entire development at risk.

News of Ray's woes spreads like wildfire around the cobbles and some of the residents vow to stay put until the situation becomes clearer.

Debbie starts to regret her association with Ray as it's clear that things aren't going well, but the most disturbing development of the day is still to come.

With encouragement from her friend Craig Tinker, an emotional Faye Windass bravely heads to the police station and confesses to the attack on Adam Barlow.

Faye confirms that it was a case of mistaken identity and she'd really been intending to target Ray after he tried to rape her.

Later, Debbie is horrified when police arrive at the Bistro to arrest Ray on suspicion of attempted rape. Will this be the final straw for Debbie's loyalty to him?
