'Completely Shut Down': National Guard Seen Lining Closed Streets in 'Empty' Washington

Soldiers from the National Guard were seen lined along a barricade in Washington on the evening of January 19 ahead of President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration.

This footage also shows the quiet streets of the city amid tight restrictions on movement. A public access map was released by the Secret Service on January 17, showing a large number of bridges and roads closed around the capital.

In addition, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser announced on January 15 that 13 metro stations would be closed and 26 bus services detoured until January 21. Credit: RawsMedia via Storyful
