Coastal Louisiana residents still recovering from the damage caused by Hurricane Laura in late August braced for the impact of Hurricane Delta, which was expected to make landfall Friday, October 9.
This footage shows debris left by Laura as Delta’s winds started in. The footage was captured in Lake Charles, which was hit hard by the storm.
Mandatory evacuation orders were issued for Calcasieu, Allen, Jeff Davis, Beauregard, and Cameron parishes. Reports said Interstate 10 was bumper-to-bumper as residents tried to beat the storm’s expected landfall.
As of Friday afternoon, the storm was Category 2, with 105 mph winds. It was moving north-northeast at 14 mph. The coast from Beaumont, Texas, to Morgan City, Louisiana, was under a hurricane warning. Areas to the east, north, and west were under tropical storm warnings. Credit: Amie D. Herbert via Storyful
