A Seremban Umno division committee meeting held on Monday night turned into commotion as grassroots leaders traded barbs after its chief Mustafa Salim adjourned the meeting abruptly.

The committee members were not given an opportunity to air their views, Seremban Umno Youth chief Zool Amali Hussain was quoted by Sinar Harian as saying.

According to him, the situation became tense when a group of individuals who were not part of the committee members and attendees of the meeting, showed up at the venue.

Zool said the meeting was called to determine if the Umno divisional delegate meeting slated for this weekend to be held virtually or face-to-face.

"However, just five minutes into the meeting, it was adjourned. As the divisional youth chief, I tried to get an explanation from Mustafa, but I was stopped by a few individuals.

"Suddenly, came a group of individuals who are not part of the members who attended the meeting. The committee members did not know them and they engaged in an argument. I was scolded for disputing their presence at the meeting," he added.

"They had attempted to provoke me and a quarrel started from there. Moreover, the meeting was held in the night and no other people are allowed after the office hour."

As such, Zool said he had lodged a police report at the Seremban district police headquarters.

A video clip went viral on social media since Monday night which showed some individuals quarrelling and at some point were seen pushing each other.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the commotion as they were calmed down by the police, who arrived at the venue.
