'Come Down Before You Get Nicked': Police Plead With People on Buckingham Palace Memorial
Police asked people to climb down from the Victoria Memorial on Thursday night, September 8, as crowds gathered outside Buckingham Palace following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Video recorded by Paul Brown shows police officers asking people to come down from the royal monument. “Come down before you get nicked,” an officer is heard saying.
In a statement, the City of London Police said they were working with partners to ensure mourners could pay their respects safely.
