Eruptions at the Cumbre Vieja volcano have continued into an eighth week, as ash spewed from the volcano on the Spanish island of La Palma once more on Wednesday, November 10.
The volcano began erupting on September 19. As of November 9, lava had covered 999.6 hectares on the island, according to the European Union’s Copernicus satellite program. Analysts with Copernicus determined that volcanic activity had destroyed 2,605 buildings.
