Colorado Man Saves Unconscious Driver by Letting Car Hit His Truck and Not Oncoming Traffic

Ryan Myrick said his bumper may have gotten damaged, but he "would do it again without hesitation"

A Colorado man stepped up to help a driver after she became unconscious behind the wheel.

Ryan Myrick was commuting home in Lakewood on Friday, Sept. 6, when he saw a vehicle on the highway swerve "all the way over and hit the median, the diving median," according to Fox affiliate KDVR.

Seeing the out of control car, he realized the driver behind the wheel was not conscious, per KDVR and ABC affiliate KMGH-TV. Not wanting the driver's car to hit oncoming traffic, the man decided to take action.

"I'm honking, screaming, yelling, no response," Myrick told KMGH-TV. “I get my truck in front of hers, I stop and let her just bam, right into the back of me."

An off-duty police officer on the scene “jumped out” and helped Myrick break the windows and shut off the driver's ignition. “It had to have been a few minutes, but it seemed like it happened so fast," he told KVDR.

According to the outlets, a nurse who was on the scene also stopped to help.
