Colombia's Medellin holds annual flower parade

Colombia's annual flower parade is in full bloom this year

Location: Medellín, Colombia

The festival celebrates the art of floristry

Local florists display their arrangements,

called “silletas”

MEDELLIN CULTURE MINISTER, ALVARO NARVAEZ, SAYING:

"We are celebrating life after such difficult times, through our heritage that is the flower parade. This tradition has seen participants in the parade for over 64 years and today it is exciting for the city.”

The parade has been a tradition since 1957

It was cancelled last year because

of the global health crisis

PARADE PARTICIPANT, GLORIA ESTELA SOTO, SAYING:

"I am very happy to be a “Silletera,” to take this tradition forward. I have been a farmer since birth, I am very happy to participate in 2021. Last year we participated but it was something private.”
