CNN’s Van Jones Calls Democrats “Idiots,” Admits “We Got Whooped”

“This time last week we thought we were the smartest people in the world,” said a chastened Van Jones on a CNN Sunday panel discussion. “We thought Donald Trump was an idiot. We thought his campaign made no sense. It turns out they were smarter than us … and we’re just sitting here with the dunce cap on.”

What asked what Democrats need to do for the next two years, Jones tried to leaven the bitter truth of the situation with humor.

“Therapy,” he responded, before later emphasizing, “We got whooped.”

“It turned out we were the idiots,” Jones said in a separate discussion on the channel last week. “We woke up in a body bag because while we were knocking on doors. They were making these phones into 24-hour-a-day political weapons for themselves.

“We got beat because the conservatives and Republicans built a different media system. It had to do with online, had to do with podcasts, with streaming platforms. And they were spending their money there.”
