CNN asks Harris campaign, ‘Would it kill you guys to have a press conference?’

NEW YORK — CNN bluntly pressed Kamala Harris’ spokesman Michael Tyler on why the Democratic nominee for president hasn’t held a press conference since President Joe Biden announced last month he wouldn’t seek reelection and endorsed his vice president instead.

“Would it kill you guys to have a press conference?” host Jim Acosta asked Tyler on Wednesday. “Why hasn’t she had a press conference?”

Harris is expected to formally accept the Democratic Party’s nomination at next week’s convention in Chicago. She and her pick for vice president, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, have hosted numerous packed rallies since announcing they’d run together on Aug. 6.

With the election taking place in 82 days, there’s been a growing call for the pair to face questions.

Tyler reasoned that Harris and Walz have been busy campaigning across the country since suddenly becoming the Democratic Party’s representatives in the presidential race. He insisted they are “absolutely” going to hold pressers, but wouldn’t commit to a time or place other than repeating Harris’ earlier pledge to have the candidates sit down with reporters “before the end of the month.”

Harris’ Republican challenger, former President Donald Trump, held a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago estate last week and is hosting another one at his New Jersey golf club Thursday.

Trump and Harris are scheduled to debate on ABC on Sept. 10.

I look forward to it,” Harris posted on social media last week once that date was confirmed.

Trump has pushed for two additional debates, including one to be moderated by Fox News, where the former president enjoys solid support.

Biden opted to end his candidacy after a historically poor performance in his June 27 debate against Trump.
