Cloudy With a Chance of Fish: Fish Fall From Sky Amid Texas Storms

Residents of Texarkana, Texas, spotted fish that had fallen from the sky scattered across town after storms swept the area on December 29, 2021.

Jordan Williamson filmed video that shows multiple fish on the ground in a parking lot. Williamson said on Facebook that it was the “craziest thing” he had ever seen.

The City of Texarkana confirmed the fish raining event in the area on December 29.

“Animal rain is a phenomenon that occurs when small water animals like frogs, crabs, and small fish are swept up in waterspouts or drafts that occur on the surface of the earth. They are then rained down at the same time as the rain,” they said.

Local reports said at least four locations in Texarkana reported a “free-fall of fish either during or in the aftermath of two storms that blew through here Wednesday afternoon”.
