'Close to Death': COVID-19 Patients in Sydney Plead for Public to Get Vaccinated

Three COVID-19 patients in Concord Hospital in Sydney, Australia, shared their experiences battling the virus in footage published on August 18.

Thirty-year-old Ramona, 50-year-old Fawaz, and 35-year-old Osama detailed how difficult their recovery has been, and urged fellow Australians to protect themselves.

Pharmacy worker Ramona said she "could have contracted the virus from someone who didn’t want to get the vaccination.”

Osama’s wife was in ICU at the time of recording, with his children also hospitalized, and Fawaz’s entire family of six children tested positive for the virus.

Osama said he felt “close to death” at the peak of his illness in the footage, which was posted by Sydney Local Health District. Credit: Sydney Local Health District via Storyful
