Climate activists' stunt jams route to auto show

Long traffic jams formed as police closed several motorways "for security reasons" while activists were seen dangling from bridges above the usually highly frequented autobahns.

The Munich "IAA Mobility" car show opens later on Tuesday with a speech and tour by Chancellor Angela Merkel who has often stressed the importance of the country's auto industry for Germany's economy and its job sector.

Greenpeace activist Benjamin Stephan during a protest outside the IAA called automakers "climate killers" who were out to make a profit by "selling off the future of young human beings."
