Cleveland Driver Arrested After Crashing Into Gas Pump and Cars, Then Threatening Deputies

Surveillance footage taken from a Cleveland area GetGo gas station shows the exact moment a driver slammed into a gas pump and a vehicle, causing fires in the parking lot on February 29.

The driver was arrested.

According to reports, the driver, identified by police as Michael Craig, was idling at a gas pump at the Painesville Township, Ohio, gas station in an SUV when he sped up, intentionally ramming into the pump and at least three vehicles.

The SUV the suspect was driving caught fire after crashing into a fence, according to the report, and when bystanders tried to help the suspect from the vehicle, he allegedly threatened to “shoot and kill everyone” with what was ultimately found to be a pair of pliers.

When Lake County sheriff’s deputies arrived to the scene, Craig allegedly threatened officers from inside the burning SUV. He climbed from the vehicle’s window, claiming he had a gun in his hand, media reported. Deputies fired rounds of bean bags at the suspect and tased him. He was taken to the Lake County jail.
