“Chucky” stars Jennifer Tilly, Devon Sawa react to series cancellation: 'Resurrections are Chucky’s specialties'

"Chucky never ends!!... He just respawns."

The cast and crew of Chucky are mourning the Syfy and USA show's cancellation — but they're certain that our favorite killer doll will come back from the dead yet again.

Jennifer Tilly, who joined the franchise in 1998's Bride of Chucky and played herself possessed by the villainous doll Tiffany Valentine on the show, confirmed that it has been shelved on social media on Friday.

"So sad to announce that after three wonderful seasons the television series Chucky has finally been canceled," she wrote. "First, I'd like to think [sic] our fans, who managed to keep the #RenewChucky hashtag trending for MONTHS!  Without your loyalty and tenacity Chucky would never have endured for 30 years!"

However, Tilly implied that Chucky will return in some form in the future. "We're really proud of our show," she said. It has been a wonderful miracle working with this talented cast and crew. We were very lucky to have the leadership of our brilliant captain [creator] Don Mancini. But (to quote Call of Duty) we are 'down but not out.' Resurrections are Chucky's specialties and he has many of them!"

In a separate post, Tilly lamented the unfortunate timing of the cancellation. "Kinda twisting the knife to cancel #Chucky so close to Halloween. That's like canceling Santa at Christmas," she wrote.

Tilly also posted a photo of her and Mancini looking slightly puzzled as they stare at a phone. "This is me and Don finding out that Chucky just got canceled," she wrote.

Meanwhile, Devon Sawa, who played five different supporting characters over the course of the show's three seasons, wrote, "CHUCKY NEVER ENDS!!… He just respawns."

The actor continued, "I've said it once and I'll say it again, this series was some of the most fun I've ever had shooting. I'm sad, but excited to see where it goes. RIP."

Fiona Dourif, who portrayed another woman possessed by Chucky on the show, also reacted to the news. "This job was a dream, and I am grateful for every minute of it. *we take a tiny red bow*," she wrote.

Series creator Mancini, who has shepherded the franchise since penning the original script for 1988's Child’s Play, thanked Chucky-files on social media. "I have so much love for our amazing fans," he said. "Your #RenewChucky campaign meant the world to me during a very difficult time. Chucky says to tell all of you, quoting himself: 'See ya real soon.' HE'LL BE BACK."

Chucky ran for three seasons on Syfy and USA Network, continuing the seven-film franchise with a new story about the murderous doll hunting a group of New Jersey teenagers.
