Who Is Christina Milian's Partner? All About Matt Pokora

The musical couple met in 2017 and have since welcomed two children together

Christian Milian and her partner, Matt Pokora, both got their start as R&B artists.

The actress and the French singer, who performs under the name M. Pokora, met in 2017. The couple have since welcomed two sons, Isaiah in 2020 and Kenna the following year.

Before her relationship with Pokora, Milian dated Nick Cannon and Lil Wayne and was previously married to The-Dream. The Love Don't Cost a Thing actress said that comparing her past romances to her partnership with Pokora is like apples and oranges.

“It’s a completely different relationship,” she told Page Six in 2020. “It’s built on a respect for our families, for each other, and on mutual support. Nothing between us is uneasy, and that’s what I think is so special. He can truly be himself and so can I.”

Though the pair occasionally wear rings on that finger, as seen in Milian’s Instagram post from early 2023, they have yet to publicly comment on their marriage status, despite reports that they quietly wed in 2020.

So, who is Christina Milian's partner? Here's everything to know about Matt Pokora and his relationship with the actress.

He’s French

Pokora was born in Strasbourg, France in 1985 as Matthieu Tota. His father, André Tota, was a French soccer player and his son originally wanted to play too, but soon decided to pursue music instead. (Pokora remains a massive soccer fan.)

His stage name was inspired by the Polish word for humility, as he is of Polish descent.

Pokora was in a boy band before becoming a solo artist

In the early days of his career, Pokora appeared on a French reality show called Popstars and became part of a three-person boy band called Linkup.

They had a hit single in France but couldn’t keep the momentum going and eventually broke up.

He’s a successful musician

After leaving Linkup, Pokora struck out on his own and has since released 10 studio albums, many of which have appeared on the French pop charts.

His first album was released in 2004 and his most recent, Epicentre, was released in 2022.

Pokora met Milian in 2017

The couple initially crossed paths at a restaurant in France in 2017 and were set up by the manager.

“We switched numbers, found out we had the same birthday that night, and it was like the stars aligned," Milian recounted of their first night together to Oprah Daily.

"He told me, 'We're going to have a child together.' I've never had anybody say that to me," the actress added.

He was on the French version of The Voice and Dancing with the Stars

Pokora served as a judge on the French version of The Voice — with a twist. Instead of mentoring his peers, Pokora worked as a judge on the kids’ version of the popular singing contest.

He also appeared on the French version of Dancing with the Stars and won the first season.

Like his partner, Pokora has also worked as an actor, most famously playing Robin Hood in the French musical Robin des Bois.

He and Milian welcomed two children together

The musical couple welcomed their first child, son Isaiah, on Jan. 20, 2020.

“Once upon a time, there was Isaiah, born January 20, 2020… it’s up to you to write the rest. Welcome my son,” Pokora wrote on Instagram. Isaiah joined big sister Violet, Milian’s daughter with The-Dream.

Ten months after Isaiah was born, the couple announced they were expecting another baby. Their second son, Kenna, was born on April 24, 2021.

Pokora and Milian are travel buddies

One of Pokora and Milian’s favorite things to do together is to travel alone or with their kids.

“Once a month, we try to [travel and] stay at least a day or a day and a half. We don't go too far away from the kids, but we like to do something for ourselves. We need that time to just be adults and not have to worry about anything,” Milian told BET in 2022. “Every time we do it, it is always really refreshing. I love to travel and I love spontaneity. Thank goodness he has that in him because it's a good fit for the both of us.”

Milian calls him her “twin flame”

The Falling Inn Love star often refers to Pokora as her twin flame.

“Happy Birthday to my ONE and only twin flame!” she wrote on his birthday in September 2022. “Love of my life! Best FRIEND-Best DAD- Best Half of me!”
