Chrissy Teigen is facing criticism online after throwing a lavish "Squid Game"-themed party.

On Monday, the 35-year-old shared a set of photos from the party with her more than 35 million Instagram followers.

"Where do I even begin! What an absolutely epic night. My dream came true of watching my friends fight to the death!" Teigen captioned her post. "Dunk tank, musical chairs, and hide and seek, followed by a very riveting final game of pin the tail on the donkey. Wife of the Party, you truly are the best and have the best team ever. Thank you thank you thank you! More pics to come!"

While many were impressed by Teigen's costume and the accuracy of the themed decor, food and party favours, others found it ironic and "tone-deaf" that a "Squid Game" party was thrown by someone so well-off. The hit series centres on a group of individuals so overcome by poverty and debt that they're willing to play a series of life-or-death games for a substantial cash prize.

"I love this…. But I’m also getting rich white men watching the glass bridge episode vibes," one Instagram user commented.

"This is so beyond tone-deaf as a millionaire to invite your rich friends over and reenact 'Squid Game' which is rooted in the violence of capitalism," another said.

"Rich people can really be so out of touch with reality," another wrote.

"Why do rich people always miss the entire point?" another person echoed. "Complete lack of self-awareness."

"I think you missed the point of the show," someone added.

This certainly was not the first time that Teigen has been called-out by fans for being "tone-deaf" when it comes to finances.

Back in 2019, the former Sports Illustrated model tweeted about her mother treating Apple AirPods as if they're "disposable" and fans were not happy about it.

"My mom treats her AirPods like they're disposable. She buys a few [pairs] a month. She says they would be easier to not lose if they had a cord," she tweeted.

The negative reaction by fans eventually prompted a reply from Teigen, who assured it was meant "as a joke."

"Oh man, I haven’t checked my mentions for a bit and I didn’t realize how many people were super pissed off about this. It was meant as a joke (and exaggeration) about how my mom doesn’t realize AirPods are with a cord are headphones," she wrote. "But it came across as super tone-deaf and icky."

The model and cook book author then told fans that although she does her best, her jokes don't always land with her audience.

"I promise I will not always say the right thing in the right way but I also promise I hate disappointing or pissing you guys off," she added. "I’m sorry and I will do better to not be such an a—hole."
