Hi there! Chloë Grace Moretz here. A lot of people know me as an actress, but I’m also an activist. Politics has always been personal for me; growing up with two gay brothers taught me to stand up and fight for LGBTQ+ rights. And that fight includes exercising my right to vote, to put people in power who will give my brothers every right I have.

That’s why today I’m celebrating National Voter Registration Day, a holiday all about our democracy and encouraging everyone to register to vote. And as we mark this year’s National Voter Registration Day, I want to say something loud and clear: the stakes in this upcoming election could not be higher, especially for young people. Our voices do matter, we can make a difference in this upcoming election. We have to speak up and speak out in support of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris know that the 2020 election will have a significant impact on our lives and the lives of future generations. They understand that young Americans are affected deeply by the four crises we are facing. There’s a public health crisis, which has left 200,000 Americans dead—and more than six million sick. There’s an economic crisis, which has left tens of millions out of work. There’s a climate crisis, which is threatening our environment, our health, our economy, and our future. And there’s a moral crisis, which has left our nation reeling in anguish and anger over systemic racism.

I know that Joe and Kamala are ready on day one to fight these crises. They are going to listen to experts and contain this virus. They are going to deliver results for young people and working families and build the country back better. They are going to take action and fight the devastating impacts of climate change. And they will heal our country and unite Americans of all backgrounds to move our country forward.

That’s why on this National Voter Registration Day, we as young Americans have to do our part to ensure we are registered and ready to vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris — and make sure all our friends are too. Here’s what you can do today.

First, visit iwillvote.com, a helpful and accurate one-stop shop for voting information. There, you can register to vote. If you think you’re already registered, you should check to make sure everything is up to date and accurate.

Then, decide how you’d like to vote and make a plan using the tools on iwillvote.com. It’s easy to vote early this year, either by mail or in-person. For me, I’ll be voting by mail this year, but you can choose a plan that works best for you. If you want to vote in person, you can find your polling location, check what days and times you can vote, and make sure you have the right ID that you will need. If you decide to vote by mail, request your ballot as soon as you can, fill it out, and return it right away. You can learn more about the best voting-by-mail option based on your state and county rules at iwillvote.com.

Finally, spread the word about registering to vote. Share iwillvote.com on social media and send it to your group chats. Make sure your friends and family have a plan to vote early, like you.

Together, we as young Americans can fight these four crises, lift our nation to new heights and elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris this November. With the stakes this high, and our future on the line, we can’t surrender. We can’t let this National Voter Registration Day pass without taking action. We can’t sit this election out.

Please, go to iwillvote.com, register to vote, make a plan to vote early, and tell all your friends and family about it today.

On Tuesday, September 22, Young Americans for Biden will host a rally in celebration of National Voter Registration Day, featuring comedians, actors, musicians, and others to be announced. Members of the public who wish to attend can RSVP HERE.
