Chips Shortage Won't Be Solved in Short Term: WSTS

Mar.17 -- Gabriel Chou, vice president for Asia Pacific at the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics, looks at the global shortage of semiconductors. The issue is starting to have serious effects for automakers, with Honda Motor Co. saying it will suspend production at some U.S. plants while Toyota Motor Corp. has already scaled back production due to the lack of chips. U.S. Industry leaders told a Senate committee yesterday that more incentives are needed for domestic production to reduce the reliance on foreign supplies of semiconductors.
