New Chinese Satellite Captures 'High-Precision' Images of the Sun

China’s new Fengyun-3 E satellite captured “high-precision” images of the sun, taken during the month of August, the country’s meteorological administration said on September 2.

The images, released on Thursday, are an “extreme ultraviolet animation” showing the surface of the sun, according to a statement by the China Meteorological Administration.

The satellite launched in July 2021, with the aim of helping researchers to perform space weather forecasting more accurately, officials said. Credit: National Satellite Meteorological Center via Storyful
