KUALA LUMPUR, May 30 — A Chinese woman who received financial aid from Taiwanese celebrity Richie Jen two decades ago turned up at his recent concert to personally thank him for his assistance.

The unidentified 23-year-old fan had attended Jen’s concert at Shenyang in Liaoning Province on May 28 where she shared she had known Jen for 22 years.

The woman said she was born with a congenital heart condition and her family could not afford to get her treated, ET Today reported.

“It was you who saw my story in a local daily and donated 30,000 yuan (RM19,499) that allowed me to undergo the surgery,” she said.

A clip of the woman sharing her life story in the concert had since gone viral on social media.

In the clip, the woman showed a photograph of Jen holding her when she was a baby while another woman standing next to the fan held a newspaper with the woman’s story appealing for funds.

The fan also requested Jen to sing her a song Bu Yao Bian (Don't Change) and hoped the love between people would not change.

Social media users praised Jen for extending his helping hand to the woman.

Weibo user Della Estella said Jen is not known to have negative reports.

“He is a nice man,” she said.

Another user also shared Jen used his Weibo account to help search for a missing child.

“Although the child was found, sadly he was lifeless,” the user added.
