Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi and singer-songwriter Wang Feng end marriage after eight years
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 — Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon actress Zhang Ziyi and Chinese rocker Wang Feng announced their divorce on Monday, ending eight years of marriage.
In a joint statement issued via their social media, the couple said they decided to dissolve their marriage after careful consideration and deliberation, reported Global Times.
The custody of their three-year-old son will go to 44-year-old Zhang while Wang, 52, will have custody of their eight-year-old daughter.
The last time the couple were seen together in public was on September 9, when they took their children to dinner.
Wang and Zhang first dated in 2013 before going steady the same year when Wang declared his love for Zhang at a concert.
Zhang said "yes" to a marriage proposal from Wang during a party to celebrate her 36th birthday.
Zhang is Wang's third marriage and he has two older daughters from his previous relationships.
Before the courtship with Wang, Zhang was in a long-term relationship and engaged to Israeli billionaire Vivi Nevo before splitting in late 2010 after being together for three years.
8 days reported that Wang was married to host Qi Dan from 2003 to 2004, and was secretly married from 2007 to 2013 to Kang Zuoru, with whom he has a daughter, Jingyi, 11.
He also has another daughter, 18-year-old Apple, with ex-girlfriend, Chinese model Ge Huijie.
