Chicago 2024 Sees Steven Spielberg On Board With Joe Biden For DNC & Reelection Campaign
Steven Spielberg has made no secret of his support for Joe Biden’s reelection, and now the Oscar winner is rolling up his sleeves for the team.
Spielberg is involved strategically in the incumbent’s campaign and even the specifics of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in August, Deadline has confirmed.

“Steven wants to be as helpful as possible to the president,” a well-placed source says. “He believes this is one of the most important elections in the nation’s history.”
The filmmaker is unlikely to helm a short movie at the DNC about Biden this year the way he helped do for John Kerry in 2004, and again at the 2008 convention when Barack Obama was nominated. However, Spielberg has been working with key advisors on how to “convey the president’s successes and his vision for the country” to viewers and delegates, I’m told.
Representatives for Spielberg had no comment on reports of the director’s participation in the Biden campaign when contacted by Deadline.
Set to run August 19-22 in the Windy City, the 2024 DNC will welcome more than 5,000 delegates from all 50 states and the U.S. territories. With Biden already assured of his re-nomination and Vice President Kamala Harris remaining by his side, the convention gives the Democrats an unobstructed opportunity to pitch POTUS to voters.
In that vein, Spielberg has already proved a dedicated donor to the Biden-Harris ticket. The Lincoln director was a co-host of POTUS’ mega-fundraiser on December 8. Kate Capshacw, Shonda Rhimes, Rick Caruso, and Peter and Megan Chernin were also co-hosts of the president’s first Hollywood shindig of the 2024 campaign.
It is sure to be the first of many, as the Tinseltown ATM has long been a lucrative stop for Democrats, especially presidents and would-be presidents.
Well-cversed in the corridors of power, Spielberg also has a good buddy in place high up in the Biden campaign in Jeffrey Katzenberg. The DreamWorks co-founder and heavyweight bundler is serving as a co-chair of Biden’s well-funded reelection effort.
A recent recipient of USC’s University Medallion in part celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Spielberg founded Shoah Foundation, there is no word yet what the director’s follow-up to 2022’s The Fabelmans will be. But getting helping to defeat Donald Trump isn’t a bad project.
