Children from a group of nurseries have adopted 248 animals at Chester Zoo in Cheshire, England. Children, families and staff took part in a campaign to raise money for the zoo, after hearing of the venue’s financial struggles during the pandemic. The campaign raised £20,000, enough to pay for the care and upkeep of almost 250 animals. Chester Zoo has reported losses of nearly £10m since the start of the pandemic, after the venue was forced to close its doors three times due to coronavirus restrictions. The zoo is marking its 90th birthday this year.
