Cheryl Burke Injured Her Head During ‘DWTS’ Rehearsal, But Managed to Recover For a Creepy Performance

From Woman's Day

During the rehearsals leading up to Villains Night on season 29 of Dancing With the Stars, Cheryl Burke sustained a head injury. "Cheryl and I were practicing during stage rehearsal, and it did not go well," her partner, AJ McLean, said in a video posted to DWTS' Instagram account on Monday. "We're sending her well wishes for a speedy recovery before tonight's #VillainsNight! ❤️ #DWTS," the caption read.

The video shows clips of McLean and Burke's Villains rehearsal, leading up to her fall. He runs toward her, and as she runs backward, she falls, and McLean falls over her. When Burke hits the ground, you can hear the thunk of her head on the hardwood floor. McLean quickly rushes to her side on the floor. "Are you good? Are you OK?" he asks her as she's panting on the ground. "It happened so fast," he says. "I just heard her head hit the floor." In the next shot, you can see Burke with an ice pack on her head, McLean sitting next to her on the floor, visibly concerned, and someone standing above her saying, "I'm gonna bring the medic in."

Fans quickly flooded the comment section of the post, asking how Burke's doing and sending their prayers.

"Is she ok? Will they be dancing? Cmon @dancingabc we need to know if everything’s ok!" one commenter pleaded with the network. Another one echoed that sentiment, "Like wtf DWTS? Can't just leave it like that... is she ok? What did the doctors say? That sounded so loud."

"Sending prayers and hoping for a quick recovery feel better soon @cherylburke ❤️❤️" another one wrote.

"This made me cry! I hope she's okay!!!" someone wrote. "Oh my gosh sending you love @cherlyburke," another added.

In the end, Burke was cleared to dance and she and McLean performed a Tango to "Psycho" by the Intermezzo Orchestra, dressed in outfits inspired by iconic movie villain Norman Bates. "I think I hurt my rotator cuff more than my neck," Burke told host Tyra Banks. "But I'm OK." The pair earned 26 out of a possible 30 points for their routine.
