Cher Once Slid Into “Property Brothers” Star Jonathan Scott’s DMs, He Says: ‘Of Course I Responded’

"I immediately was like, ‘Call everyone I know!’ " the HGTV talent said

Jonathan Scott is opening up on the wildest online message he’s ever received — and it involves Cher!

On Wednesday, April 17, HGTV star Scott, 45, and his twin brother Drew Scott stopped by TODAY with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush. During the visit, the guys played a game where Jonathan was asked, “Who is the craziest person to slide into your DMs?”

“Oh I have a good one! Cher!,” he replied as Kotb, 59, was visibly and audibly surprised.

However, he was sure to put a rest to any rumors before they had the chance to begin.

“Yeah, it was not in a romantic way, but she had watched one of our shows and she was just saying she was watching this during the pandemic. And so I immediately was like, ‘Call everyone I know!’ ” he said.

Drew chimed in, adding, “No, but she actually, she came just to say, ‘Why the hell don’t the home owners listen to you?’ And in the DM she was like, ‘That home owner needs to listen to you more.’ ”

The famous siblings have starred on several home improvement shows including Buying and Selling, Brother vs. Brother, and Celebrity IOU, with their most notable series likely being Property Brothers.

“She was writing in there! Did you respond and have a whole conversation?” Kotb asked.

Jonathan seemed to think the question was an odd one.

“Did I respond to Cher? Of course I responded to Cher! You know, I was single at the time,” he quipped. “I was like, ‘So what’s happening?’ No, I responded and I laughed, she was funny, and that was that.”

“That’s the best answer,” Bush, 42, said.

Cher, 77, is currently dating Universal Music Group executive Alexander "A.E." Edwards.

The couple, who share a 40-year age gap, went public with their relationship in 2022 after meeting at a Paris Fashion Week event.

In October 2023, Cher spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about how much she’s enjoying their relationship and how their differences keep the flame alive.

“Alexander’s got diamond teeth, tattoos, white hair, and he’s way younger. He’s a beautiful man,” she said of the 38-year-old.

As for Jonathan, he recently teased his upcoming wedding details with fiancée  Zooey Deschanel.

“I’m only saying this once…💍,” he captioned an Instagram Reel on April 8 for the 2024 total solar eclipse.

In the video, he professed his love to the New Girl alum, 44, with hand-written signs. However, by the time he got to the so-called best part, the screen became dark during the “eclipse,” thus hiding the actual info.

The pair met while filming an episode of Carpool Karaoke in 2019 and became engaged in August 2023.
