Cher drops F-bomb on live TV, surprises Hoda Kotb: 'You said I could'
"I should've bleeped it myself," said Kotb. "Bleep."
If she could turn back time, Cher might not be so unfiltered on live television.
The venerable singer dropped by The Today Show on Tuesday to chat with Hoda Kotb about the first volume of her two-part memoir Cher: The Memoir, which features intimate tales about, among other things, her career and tumultuous relationship with Sonny Bono. While relaying advice she received from comedian Lucille Ball amid her troubles with Bono, Cher dropped an uncensored F-bomb, flustering Kotb.
"I love how you sought out another iconic woman for advice during this whole mess. You called Lucille Ball," noted Kotb. "And what did she tell you to do?"

"I can't say it on TV," cautioned Cher.
"We'll bleep it," said Kotb.

"I said, 'Lucy I'm calling you because to my knowledge there's never been a situation besides mine except yours,'" said Cher, referencing Ball's highly-publicized split from husband and business partner Desi Arnaz. "She said, 'F--- him. You're the one with the talent.'"
The live broadcast did not bleep the curse word in time, flustering Kotb, who laughed off the ordeal. "We will get it in for the next feed," said the host.
"You said I could," Cher noted.
"I should've bleeped it myself," quipped Kotb. "Bleep."
Though the broadcast was not quick enough to censor the F-bomb live on-air, NBC has since uploaded a censored version on YouTube (as seen above).
Cher and Bono, who like Ball and Arnaz also had a working relationship as pop duo Sonny & Cher, wed in 1964 and separated in 1975.
