Chelsea, Tottenham given massive transfer lift as Inter Milan put key £44m man up for sale this summer
Inter Milan are reportedly ready to sell a top Chelsea and Tottenham transfer target this summer, as long as they receive a fee in the region of €50million (£44m).
The two struggling London clubs are both expected to be in the market for a new goalkeeper come the end of the season, with transfer chiefs at Stamford Bridge and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium likely to have busy off-seasons.
Chelsea remain unconvinced by Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga, while Spurs need a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris, who could return to his native France this summer.
To that end, the duo have both been monitoring Andre Onana’s performances with Inter this season.
They are not the only ones though, with Manchester United also keeping tabs on the player while David de Gea’s proposed new contract remains unsigned.
However, it’s Chelsea and Tottenham who have concrete interest in the Cameroon international. Indeed, we reported on Sunday that prospective new boss Mauricio Pochettino wants to bring Onana to west London ahead of his old club.
And Inter have seemingly given both clubs a lift after identifying Guglielmo Vicario as Onana’s replacement, as reported by Tuttosport (via FC Inter News).
The report adds that Inter ‘have fews doubts’ about the Empoli stopper and ready to sanction Onana’s exit as a result.
Inter are keen on cashing in on Onana after a tremendous campaign from the 27-year-old, who has excelled in both Serie A and the club’s run to the Champions League semi-finals.
Inter set to make huge profit on Onana
Tuttosport adds that the San Siro giants are willing to sanction a sale in the event of a €50m proposal, which would represent a huge gain bearing in mind he was signed on a free from Ajax last summer.
Onana is renowned for not only being a solid all-round stopper but also being very comfortable with the ball at his feet. That is something that cannot be fully said about Lloris and De Gea, where Tottenham and United are concerned.
And with Inter now making it clear that they are willing to sell, it’s just a matter of who is prepared to pay up first to likely land their goalkeeper of the next five years at the very least.
Chelsea are back in action on Tuesday evening when they head to Arsenal in the Premier League while Tottenham host Crystal Palace this coming Saturday.
