Chelsea ‘pushing hard’ to sign €60m teenager – player’s three-team shortlist revealed
Chelsea are reportedly “pushing hard” to sign Palmeiras youngster Endrick and they are “ahead” of other Premier League clubs in the running.
The striker is only 16 years old but he is already attracting interest from clubs all across Europe.
In just five senior appearances for Palmeiras, he has grabbed three goals and one assist.
Endrick has also made a big impact at international level as he has netted five goals in just four outings for Brazil U17s.
It looks like he could be one of the next major stars to come out of Brazil and naturally, a transfer to one of the biggest clubs in the world is already an inevitability.
He looks set to spend a couple more years in Brazil as he does not turn 18 until 2024. At this point, his €60m release clause becomes active.
Endrick’s father has recently told Fabrizio Romano that his son is yet to decide where he will move next.
“There’s nothing decided for Real Madrid or any other club. We’ve no preference yet,” Douglas told Romano.
“We’ll decide in the next months, the club that will pay what Palmeiras want and show us the best technical project for Endrick, will sign the boy.”
It was initially expected that he would sign for Real Madrid but they are not the only team in for him.
Romano is reporting that Chelsea and PSG are also “pushing hard” to sign Endrick.
It is believed that these three teams are “ahead of all the other sides” in the race to sign the teenage sensation.
“No official bids” are yet to come in for Endrick but Romano has hinted that these will come “soon”.
Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus is “rooting for” Endrick as he thinks that the youngster is a “phenomenon”.
“I’ve been following Endrick a lot,” Jesus told ESPN. “During the time I was training at the academy when I was coming back from injury, Ze Roberto introduced us. Then I saw him on the field…
“Wow, he’s a star. Phenomenon! He’s 16 now, right? When I was 15, I was in the academy but he’s in the seniors.
“I’m really rooting for him. I think Palmeiras are doing well by involving him in training and taking him to games. I remember when I was 17, and I went to a game against Atletico-MG. Just being on the bench, it was a top experience.
“I believe Palmeiras are doing a very good job with him. I went through it too and I know that his anxiety to play is huge. Of course, Endrick can score goals because he has that quality, but we also know that, being very young, he has the issue of anxiety.
“I’m rooting for him. The only thing I can say to Endrick right now is to be patient.”
