Chelsea prepared to bid up to £100m to beat Man Utd to explosive attacking target this summer
Chelsea are reportedly prepared to bid up to £100million to beat Manchester United and other Premier League rivals to the signing of their top attacking target this summer.
Blues boss Graham Potter is fully aware of the need to add more firepower to his starting line-up next season, with the need for a true No.9 evidenced throughout the course of the current campaign.
Kai Havertz has largely been used as a ‘false nine’ this season after the club allowed Romelu Lukaku to leave on loan, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang cannot get a look in under Potter.
Indeed, it’s thought that Lukaku will be sold in the summer, while Aubameyang’s contract is also expected to be terminated.
That leaves an even more glaring hole for Todd Boehly and Potter to fill and that’s where Victor Osimhen comes in.
Napoli value the Nigerian hotshot at around £100million. And, according to Football Insider, Chelsea are prepared to pay that figure for one of the hottest strikers in world football.
And while the Blues are aware that not qualifying for the Champions League will make it tougher to land Osimhen, they hope their financial muscle will still give them a chance of snapping up the 24-year-old.

Chelsea will have it all their own way in the chase for Osimhen though, with United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Real Madrid also linked with the forward. Indeed, United are reportedly ready to begin talks to bring the player to Old Trafford.
Osimhen has scored 25 goals in 29 games for Napoli this season, including four in five Champions League appearances.
The Naples side are currently romping away with the Serie A title and will face fellow Italians AC Milan in the Champions League quarter-finals.
As for, Osimhen he is currently spending his third year in Naples after joining them from Lille in 2020 for a club-record £78.5million. That figure made him the most expensive African player of all time, although he could blow that figure out of the water if he moves again this summer.
Chelsea are back in action on Saturday April 1 when they host Aston Villa in the Premier League.
